Handcrafted
with Care

Hi, we’re Josh & Lyndall, a husband-and-wife building team. Every last Island Table is built by our hands, with pride and care.

Locally
Sourced

Sustainably harvested lumber from Vancouver Island, milled on the south island. We keep your dollars in our local community, on Vancouver Island.

Quality
Construction

2×6 boards provide a timeless look without sacrificing rigidity or strength. Similarly strong bracing allows up up to 200 lbs per linear foot.

Before we begin; each piece of South Island-milled lumber we use is carefully inspected and hand-picked for it’s grain, strength, density, and character.

Our commitment to sustainability extends to our lumber selection and we’re careful to select locally-milled lumber of which no less than 95% can be used in the construction of our tables.

Once in our shop, the lumber is inspected once more and assigned a top and bottom side.

Once sorted the wood is measured and cut to size. Each board is then imprinted on the end with our makers mark, a small letter V for Vancouver Island, and the strongest pieces destine to become frames sections are drilled. Finally, all of the lumber is triple-sanded.

After sanding we apply a wood conditioner. Most builders will skip this step to save time and expense, but we build each table like it is our own; the conditioner allows the lumber to urgently accept our signature red cedar stain.

Through the sanding we pay a little extra attention to maintaining the character of each board; we think tables should tell a story. The story of its growth, age and the the milling process.

Next the wood is stained. Our stain is a linseed-base tinted timber oil which provides maximum UV, bug, and weather protection.

Once dry; the pieces are ready to be assembled with quality chrome, stainless, and ceramic-coated hardware sourced from local sellers. Each table is then squared on site and left to cure before being readied for pick-up or delivery.
